Bristel is a Rhinelander native with a love for nature, health and happiness. Creator of b. yoga health & wellness (formerly known as True North Yoga), Bristel fell in love with heath and well being at an early age. With a dance and gymnastics background, yoga  was always a part of her life but it wasn't until a severe knee injury in 2013 that lead her into a daily practice and eventually Yoga Teacher Training. Bristel began her training at Devandi School of Yoga, Health and Wellness in Minneapolis in 2015, and realized the profound spiritual impact yoga and meditation can have on one's whole self (body, mind and spirit). Not only is Yoga for the Physical body, but also the spiritual and mental body as well. Her journey, thus far, with various trainings have lead her to find a practice that encompasses the whole system of holistic healing, Thai Yoga Bodywork. Bristel is a lifelong student who promotes, self care, self love, whole body health, and mindfulness; teaching Yoga Classes in the tradition of Hatha, Vinyasa & Yin with a foundation in Ayurvedic Principles.

Thai Yoga Bodywork

with CJ Marten &

Bristel Hamburg of b.yoga, health & wellness

HISTORY:

Thai Yoga Bodywork is an ancient and sacred system of healing that has it's roots in Ayurveda, Hatha Yoga poses, and indigenous Thai medicine. TYB healing dates back as far as 2,500 years ago. An Ayurvedic physician, who later became Buddha's personal physician, Shivaka Kumar, enhanced his healing skills and through the unique relationship of compassion and love, Shivaka developed a "medicine" or healing known though out the world as Thai Massage.

YOGA IN TYB:

Today yoga is regarded as an acceptable way to stretch and open the body to build strength and flexibility. When you are receiving a Thai Yoga Bodywork session, one remains passive, thereby allowing greater range of motion for the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. A passive yoga practice if you will. The receiver may also move into a meditative state with breath awareness allowing a deeper experience based on trust of the giver. This restorative practice clears the mind and body of toxins making room for healing positive energy.

WHAT IS TYB?

Thai Yoga Bodywork is a deep, full-body treatment that begins at the feet and ends at the head.  Using a sequence of gentle, flowing exercise movements, It aims to help receivers release blocked areas and stimulate the flow of healing energies in the body, mind, and spirit. With the techniques such as acupressure, gentle twisting, assisted Hatha yoga poses, rhythmic massage, and energy work, the blocked energy is released, and healing can begin from a holistic perspective. When the systems of the body are working well and energy distribution is balanced, you feel calm, happy, relaxed and free from stiffness and pain.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Thai Yoga Bodywork is different from many western forms of massage in that there is no oil or applied, and a padded mat on the floor will be used instead of a massage table. The client remains completely clothed throughout the session. This technique stimulates and balances the flow of healing energy within the body and creates a powerful release of stress and tension, an increase in vitality and well-being plus it deepens the connection between mind, body and spirit in both the giver and receiver. Thai Yoga Bodywork stimulates and balances the flow of healing energy within the body, opening the areas which are blocked bringing the person deeper into balance and harmony for health, happiness and wellness of being. Wear comfortable, stretch type clothing.

TYB Sessions: Sessions will be structured as an hour or an hour and a half, with a personal intake and wellness consultation after our session concludes. TYB is recommended at least once a week, for a minimum of 3-4 weeks, this way the body can respond to the healing practice using muscle memory. This practice is perfect for any body, a yoga practice is not required in order to feel the benefits of TYB. Whether you are healing an injury, a health diagnosis, looking for a good stretch, or just a way to relax and self care... TYB is literally beneficial for all bodies.
